Task Process Resources Evaluation Conclusion

You were hired two months ago by Perfect Match Printers as an Assistant Color Specialist. During your first month on the job, the top Color Specialist was fired. You were still in training when this happened so you still had a lot to learn about color matching. But business didn't stop just because you weren't fully trained, so you had to pick up the slack and prove to your boss, Mr. Proofworthy, that you knew exactly what you were doing.

When Perfect Match Printers' largest client, "Model Car Magazine", needed color proofs for their next issue, you jumped at the chance to show you were capable of doing the job. This client spends $900,000 a year on color printing and has been doing business with your company for over 10 years. However, Mr. Proofworthy just received a complaint from "Model Car Magazine" that the printouts you did for this valued client didn't match the color of their originals.

The deadline for the next set of proofs going to "Model Car Magazine" is five weeks away. Unless you can come up with a solution in three weeks and some awesome color printouts in five weeks, the client is going to pull their business from your company and you will lose your job.

There are two other employees in your department. Unfortunately, they are each skilled at only one task and don't know anything about color matching. Izzy Inkblot runs the printers and Penelope Paperweight is in charge of ordering printing supplies.

Working as a team, the three of you must come up with several color matching solutions that may be used by Perfect Match Printers to assure that they don't lose their largest client. Your solutions will also help to update the company because the color matching procedures being used at Perfect Match Printers are outdated. Mr. Proofworthy has every confidence that you will come through because he hired you for your color expertise and your computer know-how.

Your team will give an informed presentation to Mr. Proofworthy that includes:

Presentation
  • color matching instruments
  • software
  • costs
  • recommendations

He also suggests that after you create this presentation, make it available to new, incoming employees as a training tool. It would be wise to use Power Point for the presentation since your team only has three weeks to prepare. After that you will have only two weeks to purchase equipment, become familiar with it, and create some award winning printouts.
